Research Interests:
We are interested in the origins and evolution of bacterial pathogenesis. Our work in the areas of microbiology and infectious diseases centers on mechanisms of bacterial virulence, subversion of host innate immune responses, and its impact on public health. The evolution of pathogenesis via horizontal gene transfer and regulatory evolution is also a key area of study in our research program.
