Evolution of Salmonella-Host Cell Interactions through a Dynamic Bacterial Genome

PhD student Bushra Ilyas of Dr. Brian Coombes’ lab.

29 September 2017 – IIDR graduate students Bushra Ilyas and Caressa Tsai of Dr. Brian Coombes lab review their current understanding of how genome evolution has shaped the pathogenic interactions of Salmonella with their hosts during infection, and how high-throughput technologies and the advent of transcriptomics is advancing our understanding of the evolution of bacterial pathogenesis.
