Dawn Bowdish investigates the process of macrophage phagocytosis, how macrophages influence the composition of the microbiome of the upper respiratory tract, and how they recognize and destroy Streptococcus pneumoniae, the major cause of pneumonia in the elderly. One of the major initiatives of Dawn’s role as Assistant Director, Training is the management of The Braley Fellows Program, which allows an elite group of trainees to learn about antimicrobial resistance from many different perspectives.
